Back when The Rachel’s star was fading and skunk stripes and side-swept bangs were a think, MacDaddy Salon opened its doors on Madison. Today, they’re more focused on extensions and dimensional color, but the two decades the Madison Street hair salon has been in service is a testament to its Forest Park staying power. “We’ve seen a change, and it’s all been good,” said stylist Tracy Nero, who has worked for MacDaddy since it opened in 2004.

Four people are dead after a mass shooting on a Blue Line train in Forest Park Monday morning. Authorities said three people were found dead at the scene. A fourth victim was pronounced dead later at a nearby hospital, according to CBS News Chicago. A suspect is in custody, the news station reported. Forest Park police and CTA security found the shooter on the Pink Line by using surveillance cameras. Robbery may have been a motive.

Parts of north central Illinois, northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana are under a hazardous weather outlook, with thunderstorms, flooding and excessive heat possible, according to the National Weather Service. Local heat indices may exceed 100 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Brett Borchardt, a senior meteorologist at the NWS, said this week could have a “ring of fire” effect. That’s when hot weather combines with humidity to create severe storms.
