    Manchester Honey Company has worked with Trafford Council, Amey and partners to put hives, each containing as many as 80,000 bees in secluded parkland places. The scheme started eight years ago and has grown to 200 hives making award-winning hyperlocal honey for sale online and aiding pollination in the bees’ foraging areas.

    Trafford’s streets are getting a spring refresh as the annual weed spraying programme, delivered by One Trafford, gets into full swing. The borough-wide operation, which began on April 22, is expected to continue for approximately four weeks subject to weather conditions. Three teams are currently working across Trafford, targeting weeds on public highways, including roads, pavements, kerbs, and drainage grids. Once treated, weeds typically take two to three weeks to die off.

    The Trafford Council team has said it often receives reports of traders cold calling at the door and telling residents that work needs to be done to their home or garden. The local authority cautioned that work can be of a poor standard, or the price agreed may suddenly rise. Trading Standards therefore advise that people never have work done by anyone who cold calls, even if they claim to be working at a neighbour’s home. It added that no reputable trader ever approaches a customer in this way.
