In October, an INTA delegation to India, led by INTA President Dana Northcott and INTA CEO Etienne Sanz de Acedo, visited Mumbai and New Delhi, marking the Association’s 11th official visit to the country. Since 2011, INTA delegations have actively engaged with India’s intellectual property (IP) stakeholders, reinforcing the jurisdiction’s growing importance as a leading economy and regional IP hub.

INTA Chief Policy Officer Heather Steinmeyer led a delegation to China to meet with local members and government officials in September. The delegation focused on intellectual property (IP) policy, sharing the latest global IP laws and regulations and enhancing cooperation with the Chinese IP community. The delegation’s first stop was the Jiangsu High People’s Court in Nanjing, where Ms. Steinmeyer met with Chief Judge Tang.

Parallel imports (or gray market goods) are branded goods that are imported into an unintended market and sold there without the trademark owner’s consent. Parallel importers usually purchase products in a jurisdiction at a price (price A) which is cheaper than the price in a second jurisdiction (price B), import the products into the second jurisdiction, and benefitting from arbitrage, sell the products in that jurisdiction at a price which is usually between price A and price B.
