Hydrant flushing is conducted to improve water quality by removing naturally occurring minerals that build up on pipe walls over time. Any sediment is mainly comprised of very fine minerals, predominantly iron and manganese. East Hants Water Utility completes flushing in the spring and the fall. Staff and contractors are working diligently to understand the extent of the damage inside the building, at this point we do not have an estimated re-open date. All Aquatic Centre memberships will be automatically frozen.
