Wydad Athletic Club are reportedly eager to permanently sign Thembinkosi Lorch from Mamelodi Sundowns. Lorch joined the Moroccan giants on loan from the Brazilians earlier this year, and he appears to have impressed. He has featured in nine league games for Wydad, and has scored twice, including last week’s winner against AS FAR Rabat. Thembinkosi Lorch joined Wydad earlier this year.

Kaizer Chiefs will take on Orlando Pirates in the much-anticipated Nedbank Cup final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday. Kick-off is at 15:30. This will mark the first Soweto Derby final since 2014 when both Chiefs and Pirates met in the MTN8 at the same venue. Amakhosi edged out Pirates 1-0 to lift the trophy which was also their last major Cup victory.

Orlando Pirates kept their title race hopes alive with a 2-1 away win over Golden Arrows at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday. The Buccaneers opened the scoring through Patrick Maswanganyi but Thabo Matlaba equalised for Arrows. However, Tshegofatso Mabasa, coming from the bench, netted the winner to seal Pirates’ win. As a result, Pirates are now nine points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who are in action on Wednesday.
