Jase Shore was sitting at traffic lights in a car in 2019 when he spotted a man wielding a knife in Sydney's CBD. The assailant, Mert Ney, had brandished his weapon and was attempting to stab and terrorise passers-by after killing a woman. "It was actually quite vivid, a lot of that day sticks in my mind," Mr Shore told the ABC, more than five years on. Springing to action, he jumped out of his car and chased Ney up the street, yelling at others to stand clear.

NSW Premier Chris Minns believes hundreds of thousands of commuters should have their train fares refunded after major disruptions on Sydney's rail network due to ongoing industrial action. The premier said "they should" when asked if commuters ought to be refunded for the "chaos" on the network over the last two days. "We're going to be looking at that very closely," Mr Minns said.

It's alleged that the teenager created the explicit content while also making fake social media accounts of the other students. The NSW Department of Education are assisting police with their investigation. Ratepayers are footing the alcohol bill for NSW councillors' post-meeting drinks despite the state government's best practice policy excluding it. Charging for such expenses is legal and councils are obliged to include a breakdown of council expenses in their annual reports, although they are not required to separately disclose the cost of alcohol purchases.
