Leaders said the now-small inconvenience could soon become a large problem if the road is under too much pressure. One of the busiest roads in Swanton, North Main Street, is in need of some much-needed relief.

WOOD Co., Ohio (WTVG) - Across the nation, there has been a decrease in the number of volunteer firefighters and that trend is showing right here in Northwest Ohio. In some rural areas, volunteers are the closest thing they have to respond to emergencies. “How do we address all of these concerns and when someone calls 911, how do we make sure someone is there?” Those are the questions Wood County EMA Director Jeff Klein continues to have with his staff and agencies.

(WTVG) - Like most schools in the area, Mason Senior High was closed on Monday but nearly 30 community members were still at the school bright and early to complete a challenge together. “There are barbeques and boats and beaches, and things like that that they could be doing,” said Brandon Bates, Mason Senior High School Principal.

Skyleigh Cook and others are prepping luggage, mostly small items including soap, cleaning supplies and essentials. But, Cook knows that these seemingly small items are in fact essential because four years ago, she received a similar suitcase, full of similar items, as she was about to take the biggest trip of her life.

The school is awaiting the final green light from the Ohio Board of Higher Education. On the outside, Hayes Hall at BGSU is the exact same as it has been for years. But, on the inside, Dr. Jake Lee is bringing a concept to the university that would be the first of its kind in the United States.
