TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Ohio Governor Mike DeWine introduced a new initiative Wednesday to improve birth outcomes and reduce infant mortality rates in the state. Wednesday morning, DeWine visited the Boys and Girls Club of Toledo to announce Partners for Change. The initiative is focusing on four counties across the state, including Lucas County. “We have too many children dying, the infant mortality rate is too high,” Governor DeWine said.

And one local farmer said they do a lot more than you realize for our economy and food supply. “We grow over 50 different crops on the farm, grow year-round, we do entertainment farming. It is a whole lot of fun for the family to come out and enjoy,” Phil Riehm, the farm manager at Riehm Produce Farm, said. For the past 114 years, Riehm Produce Farm has sat between Fremont and Tiffin.

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Local believers in Toledo are sharing their memories and messages following the Pope’s passing on Monday. Regina Fisher is a provincial counselor for the Sisters of Notre Dame of the United States and works mostly out of Toledo. “He was just loved by so many,” said Fisher. “Doing such wonderful things, it was very sad for us, very sad.”She says hearing the news of the Pope’s death was difficult on her and her staff. “For us, losing him, we lose a spiritual leader,” said Fisher.
