Atlanta United announced on Thursday that fan favorite Miguel Almirón will return to the club after six years with English Premier League’s Newcastle United. The 30-year-old midfielder from Paraguay will return to AUFC on a designated player deal lasting through 2027, with an option for 2028. Although Almirón only played for Atlanta for two seasons, he quickly became a club legend, helping lead the team to its only MLS Cup win in 2018.
