The poll closes Thursday at noon. Sofi Alexander, Asheville High: Alexander ran a time of 10:59.63 in the 3,200-meters to earn first place in the girls Mountain Athletic Conference championships. She also took first in the 800-meters with a mark of 2:15.52 and won the 1,600-meters with a time of 5:18.93.

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association held its spring board of directors meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, approving a variety of changes for the 2025-26 season and finalizing steps as the NCHSAA expands from four classifications to eight. The playoff formats and seeding formula were finalized, marking the biggest change and allowing teams to prepare for the upcoming fall sports season under the new format. A new mercy rule was also adopted in football and basketball.
