The Phillies looked listless for much of their series in St. Louis — a set of games that was almost a trap series after they had big time matchups against the Dodgers and Braves back to back preceding it.. Philly scored just four runs in the trio of games, losing two of them (they've scored just six in their last four games). The finale was as ugly as it gets, as the Phils wasted a Zack Wheeler start and were blanked 7-0 while surrendering seven extra base hits.

No baseball team has more blown saves than the Philadelphia Phillies. Through 12 games, they have five blown saves in 18 save situations, as well as blown leads in three of their four losses. The ERA of Phillies' relief pitchers — 4.22 — is 22nd in the majors and their WHIP isn't much better, 1.448 ranking 23rd. It's extremely early, and the bullpen has a very small 38.2 innings of work to their ledger. It doesn't mean much yet in the context of a 162-game season. But it isn't great.

If the Phillies could arrange to face the Nationals and Rockies to start every season, they would in a heartbeat. The defending NL East champs are up and running at 5-1, thanks to a dominating sweep of Colorado to open their season at Citizens Bank Park this week. The MLB season is long, winding, often frustrating and at times jubilant. A lot of baseball is left on the ledger ahead, but there are few (if any) complaints so far.

The Phillies won their first game at Citizens Bank Park Monday, 6-1 over the Rockies, signaling the official start of spring for a baseball hungry city. Kyle Schwarber went deep, helping to relieve an often sharp Cris Sánchez, who didn't. The bullpen stood nearly as strong as Edmundo Sosa's flexing biceps following a dramatic go-ahead double the shortstop hit in the seventh inning. We've got 158 of these to go, so let's not waste any time.

The NFL is set to vote on whether or not the "Tush Push" QB sneak will be banned, or remain part of legal play for the 2025 season.
