NETmicroplastic is a sustainable RTI partnership of ten partners from Austria, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands dedicated to microplastic (MP) in agricultural soils. NETmicroplastic aims to combine impact assessment of MP in soils with the development of biodegradable plastics as a possible technological solution. The potential impact of MP on soil organisms and biodiversity is discussed. The importance of education and awareness-raising to reduce plastic use is highlighted.
