The school’s students all donated to the Love Grace Handbag Appeal, which was named after Grace Millane, the British tourist murdered by her Tinder date in Auckland in 2018.

The Inner Wheel New Zealand Lower South Island Balclutha District NZ298 club is celebrating 50 years’ servicing the Clutha district. Members will be having a celebratory meal at Rosebank Lodge and a presentation with members of their own club, members of other clubs which have been invited and the district chairperson.

Balclutha hair stylist Jennie Hasler-Jacobs has put her entries from the Mataura Licensing Trust Hokonui Fashion Design Awards on display at the Zouave salon in Clyde St where she works. One of the three garments she entered in the competition received an open merit award for menswear.

More than 100 people attended the opening ceremony in Owaka earlier this month. Catlins-born Les Lockerbie was passionate about history and archaeology. His collection of artefacts is now on display at the Wahi Kahuika Owaka Museum. Museum manager Mike McPhee said it was a "great turnout for a specialist event in a small community".
