The Economist Intelligence Unit estimates that 12 African countries will be among the 20 economies expected to record the highest growth rates in 2024. “That’s more than half, which means that their growth is stable, so there should be more favourable borrowing conditions,” says Carlos Lopes, professor at the Mandela School of Public Governance in Cape Town. However, in 2023 they did not tap the international market, with the exception of Egypt at the beginning of the year.
