June 5, 2025 Cody Halstead had always dreamed of being a paramedic. But after six years of working in the EMS department at Indiana University Health, Halstead filed a civil lawsuit against IU Health LifeLine, alleging discrimination and retaliation based on his sexual orientation. “I felt that I was being punished for being honest and different, and didn't really want to stay silent about that,” Halstead said in an interview with WFYI.

May 27, 2025 Children 18 and under can get free meals at several locations across the city starting May 27 through July 25, 2025. The Indy Parks Meals Program has been running since 2013 and has provided more than 3 million meals, according to the program’s website. The meals are offered Monday through Friday for free, and no registration is required. Other locations across the city offer free summer meals too.

May 13, 2025 After an international call for artists, South Bend’s Nate Baranowski has been selected to create a new portrait mural of Women's National Basketball Association and Indiana Fever star Tamika Catchings. Catchings is one of the most decorated female basketball players. She led the Indiana Fever to its first ever WNBA championship win in 2012 and has earned four Olympic gold medals.
