    KARACHI: A father of seven children said to be affiliated with the Ahmadiyya community was beaten to death by a mob near an Ahmadiyya worship place close to the Saddar Mobile Market on Friday. According to police and community sources, the incident took place during “Friday prayers” when hundreds of individuals allegedly affiliated with a religious group surrounded the Ahmadi worship place, chanting slogans and demanding its closure.

    The Counter-Terrorism Department’s (CTD) investigation wing has claimed the arrest of a terrorist affiliated with the banned militant group Zainebiyoun Brigade on Saturday. According to CTD officer DSP Chaudhry Safdar, the department’s investigation wing carried out an operation in the Soldier Bazaar area and apprehended Syed Moosa Rizvi, alias Kamran, son of Syed Nafees Abbas Rizvi. The suspect had been in hiding for an extended period fearing arrest.

    A group of miscreants attempted to attack an international fast food chain’s outlet in Korangi Industrial Area on Thursday evening. According to Korangi SSP Tariq Nawaz, police arrested 10 suspects involved in the attack and quickly brought the situation under control. A large contingent of District Korangi police rushed to the scene and managed to detain the individuals who stormed the restaurant with the intent to vandalise.

    At least 19 individuals have been arrested under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) following a series of ‘coordinated’ arson attacks on heavy vehicles in Karachi, police said on Thursday. Five FIRs have been lodged in District Central where at least nine vehicles, including dumper and water tankers, were torched on the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

    Amid an alarming surge in vehicle-related crimes, over 537 cars and 11,982 motorcycles have been snatched or stolen across Karachi in just the past three months of 2025, highlighting the city police’s persistent failure to establish an effective deterrent against such offences. According to data compiled by the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), a total of 537 cars — 182 in January, 195 in February, and 160 in March — were either snatched or stolen in Karachi over the past three months.

If you have an aging parent that you care for: is there some sort of camera / voice based emergency panic device you use for them to contact you if they fall or faint? My mom has a panic button thing but 98% of the time she forgets to wear it or charge it.
