Senate president, Cde Mable Chinomona has hailed the Inter Parliamentary Union's (IPU) Forum of Women Parliamentarians for its contribution to Zimbabwe's promulgation of laws that advance gender equality and protection of women and girls. Cde Chinomona said this during celebrations to mark the 40th anniversary of the IPU Women's Forum at the ongoing IPU Assembly being held in Uzbekistan. The Assembly began on Friday with participants drawn from 181 countries.

Zimbabwe has enough stock of anti-retro viral drugs for the coming six months, with procurement of further supplies to last up to the end of the year already in progress, Health and Child Care Minister Dr Douglas Mombeshora has said. He said this in the National Assembly yesterday during question time. Swiss Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Stephane Rey has commended Government's decision to compensate investors whose land was acquired for resettlement but enjoyed protection under the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (BIPPA) . Ambassador Rey said the move saying the move will improve investors' confidence in the country. Ambassador Rey made the remarks after paying a courtesy call on Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda last week.

Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi has gazetted the establishment of periodical magistrates' courts in line with Government's efforts to improve the public's access to justice. The minister announced the establishment of the periodical courts in three Statutory Instruments gazetted last week in terms of provisions of the Magistrates Court Act.
