These animals, often left to survive independently, placed their trust in the hands of individuals who pretended to offer them kindness. Instead, the deceit led to their tragic deaths, leaving animal lovers and activists devastated. Stray animals, especially in cities and towns, are vulnerable to hunger and rely heavily on the goodwill of humans for survival.

“Did you do your exercise today?” This question is frequently asked by my father when we have our overseas calls. I haven’t always said yes. That did not stop him from asking me about my exercise as he believes exercise is a timeless medicine. While counseling a patient on exercise, I recognized the importance of practicing what I advise. So, I began exercising for at least 10 minutes every day.

At 6:45 a.m., I began my one-week inpatient service as an attending hospitalist at an academic medical center. While reviewing the sign-out from the previous hospitalist, I was stunned to discover that a 32-year-old man with no prior medical history had had 3 cardiac arrests in the past week. Before these events, the patient had undergone tracheostomy tube placement due to complications from COVID-19 and was recommended to have regular suctioning.
