Cycling legend Barry Hoban has died at the age of 85, British Cycling have confirmed. Yorkshireman Hoban spent most of his career with the Mercier-Hutchinson team and won eight Tour de France stages between 1967 and 1975. He held the record as the most successful British rider in the Tour, before record stage winner Mark Cavendish surpassed him in 2009.
