Destiny 2 is one of the most successful modern live-service shooters for a reason, and the infamous “Bungie magic” (i.e., the satisfying core gameplay loop) is most definitely a part of that equation. Yet, Destiny’s failures are many, and Gambit, in particular, stands out like a sore thumb. Destiny 2‘s Gambit is one of those oh-so-popular PvPvE game modes you get in high-profile titles every so often.

It came as a bit of a surprise, but this year’s Destiny 2 Guardian Games ended up being one of the very best iterations of the event, bar none. That’s all thanks to the phenomenal Rushdown mode, featuring Destiny 2‘s best boss fights in a mad dash to the end. The thing about Rushdown Mode is that it can get a fair bit challenging at the highest difficulty settings, though.

Though it doesn’t happen often, every once in a while I’ll spot a gameplay trailer for a game and immediately be sold on the concept, right off the bat. The latest example of that being the case for me is Beta Decay, an indie horror RPG dystopia with PSX-era graphics. No, no, you read that right: Beta Decay is deliberately styled after games from the original PlayStation era.

Had anyone showed me Cruelty Squad just a few years back and told me it would be one of the best ImSim titles ever, I’d have laughed in their face. Today, I get it. It just clicked. Thing is, Cruelty Squad‘s getting an Early Access sequel, and it’s even weirder. Putting Cruelty Squad into sensible terms is impossible. It’s an objectively ugly game.
