Tesla’s quarterly earnings dropped by 71 percent, the company announced Monday, marking the latest sign of bad news for Elon Musk’s electric vehicle manufacturer as scrutiny of the tech billionaire persists. The electric vehicle company reported a 9 percent decline in revenue for the first three months of this year. Its earnings totaled $409 million, down from $1.4 billion in the first quarter of last year, the company said. It is expected to host an earnings call with investors at 5:30 pm EDT.

(The Hill) — President Donald Trump’s administration is cutting nearly 90 percent of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) employees in a push to significantly downsize the watchdog agency formed to shield U.S. consumers from financial fraud and abuse. Around 1,500 of the agency’s workers are scheduled to be cut, multiple outlets reported Thursday. That would leave some 200 people in place at the agency. The employees started to get layoff notices on Thursday.

Rajiv Uppal, who has served in the role since early 2024, announced in an email to staff that he will depart the tax-collecting agency on April 28, according to reports.
