For a long time, the prospects for a unified Ireland were bleak; it was an idea consigned to the dustbin of history, remembered only by romantics, historians, diehard republicans and fringe elements of Irish society. Its status as an aspiration never managed to translate into everyday relevance. Thanks to Brexit, ironically, the subject has been pulled out of the bin, dusted off, and given the status of a genuinely credible prospect worthy of consideration.

I’ve heard tell of solidarity, but could this be called solidaritree? Inosculation is a natural phenomenon in which parts of two different trees, commonly but not exclusively the same species, grow together, self grafting and sharing nutrients The term emanates from latin- ōsculārī, to kiss‘The thinner tree was cut years ago and the big one has been holding and feeding it since then.

The second is by former Israeli army Chief-of-Staff, Gen. Rafael Eitan in 1983, speaking at an Israeli parliament’s committee.
