New Zealanders are still using opioids for long periods for the likes of chronic painMore than 723,000 New Zealanders were dispensed opioids in the past year, according to education provider He Ako Hiringa. The figure was uncovered using He Ako Hiringa’s EPiC data analytics tool, which also shows fatal drug overdose numbers increasing by 54 per cent between 2017 and 2021.
