Madrid was already booming, but the recent arrival of Richard Gere as a resident in the city has sealed its new status in Spanish eyes. The actor, 75, and his Spanish wife, Alejandra Silva, 41, put on a loving display on the cover of Elle Spain, where they said that they're "happier than ever" since relocating from the US. The presence of Gere has highlighted the stampede of wealthy foreigners moving to the city in search of a better life.
