John Mitchell will not face the sack if he fails to win the World Cup with his Grand Slam-winning England side later this year. Mitchell was seen as the ideal candidate to end England Women's World Cup hoodoo when he was appointed by the Rugby Football Union as head coach in May 2023. But should he fail to mastermind a World Cup victory - a longstanding aim of the RFU - Mitchell is set to remain in post given there is no release clause in his contract, which runs until June 30 next year.
