    The Burbank Police Department held its first-ever Women’s Self-Defense Seminar on March 1, a free three-hour workshop that equipped local women with vital self-defense skills and situational awareness techniques. Led by Officer Pahola Campos, the department’s Community Resource Officer, the event was held at Burbank High School. Though only 30 spots were available, over 100 residents applied within the first weekend of its announcement, showing a need within the Burbank community.

    Burbank’s Police and Fire Service Day has grown into a huge community event, bringing hundreds of people out to learn and engage with our first responders and other local organizations. The event is held each year on the Saturday before Mother’s Day, and kicks off National Police Week. The Police and Fire Headquarters on North Third Street becomes the hub for the free event, utilizing the Fire station’s apparatus floor and the entire parking lot.

    Burbank Police and local neighborhoods will be celebrating National Night Out (NNO), a community-building campaign, on Tuesday, August 1st. National Night Out happens annually on the first Tuesday in August, where neighborhoods across the nation build relationships within the community and with law enforcement.

    Home News Homes Evacuated During Explosive ScareBurbank Police, Fire, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Bomb Squad were called to a residential home on the 1800 block of North Maple Street between Victory Boulevard and Jeffries Avenue. Authorities were notified that unidentified explosives were found at the residence after the owner had passed and relatives were clearing the garage. The street was blocked off, and adjacent homes were evacuated in precaution.

    Police and Fire Service Day was a huge success this past Saturday and brought out hundreds of people from the community to enjoy the event that took place at the Police and Fire Headquarters. On May 13th, from 9:00 am-2:00 pm, the Burbank Fire Department (BFD) and Burbank Police Department (BPD) worked together to put on their annual Police and Fire Service Day event.
