Babies, babies, babies! Here’s the latest word on the Desert Bighorn Sheep now living in the Franklin Mountains. Texas Parks and Wildlife says they’ve spotted 17 brand new baby sheep – they’re called lambs, of course – doing just fine, living in the rugged mountain territory. During an aerial survey, they also saw 60 of the 74 adult sheep that were tagged and fitted with GPS collars before they were reintroduced into the area last December.

South El Paso StreetMaybe the headline says it all: “The best little shopping strip in Texas.”The strip is South El Paso Street, and that’s the beginning of a story in a recent issue Texas Monthly magazine. Moving, maybeWe hear that the upscale Argentinian restaurant Garufa has closed. It’s been serving steak and such for 15 years. Will Garufa reopen in a new spot? Maybe. Flower powerEver wonder why some plants just keel over and die in your garden? It’s probably because they’re not from here. Don’t despair. FloraFest, a sale of native plants that can handle the heat, cold and dryness of the desert Southwest, is coming right up. It’s Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on the UTEP campus, in the plaza between the Centennial Museum and the Undergraduate Learning Center, or UGLC.
