The news follows months of large-scale deportations of Afghan nationals from neighboring countries, most prominently Pakistan and Iran – operations that have been reportedly much more successful at repatriating Afghan nationals than Taliban assurances that the country is safe for their return. The Taliban has been the uncontested government of Afghanistan since August 15, 2021, when its terrorists entered the capital city of Kabul and prompted then-President Ashraf Ghani to flee the country.

Uranium enrichment has been a critical topic of discussion in negotiations between Iran and the administration of President Donald Trump in the past two months. The talks, led by Trump’s Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, have consisted in five meetings so far mediated by officials from the government of Oman.

Hegseth delivered the offending remarks at the Shangri-La Dialogue, an annual defense conference in Singapore. He stated plainly that China “seeks to become a hegemonic power in Asia,” actively using its military to harass and, in some cases, attack its neighbors in the South China Sea, as well as to create a longstanding threat of war with Taiwan. “We cannot look away, and we cannot ignore it. China’s behavior towards its neighbors and the world is a wake-up call.

The turnout on Thursday broke records, but Friday’s early voting total came in slightly below the record-high in 2022, when Yoon defeated the leftist frontrunner in the current election, Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party. Nearly 35 percent of eligible voters went to the polls during the early voting session.

Challenge: Try and find a current example of an American citizen, born and raised in the USA, serving in an official political capacity in ANY other country. Good luck.

I've been posting about Eurovision for weeks but since Eurovision is fun and happy, the algorithm buries those posts and only gives me racist content, anger about the most tiresome political topics, or pope stuff (ok I do like pope stuff). Sad!

The audience can have them but not the performers. Went really well on Tuesday, there was a random Palestinian flag in the audience and it didn't disrupt anything. Tonight, Israel performs so... I'll hold judgment on how successful the policy is.
