The remains of Lyncus, the lost capital city of the ancient Kingdom of Lyncestis, may have been found by archaeologists excavating the Gradishte site in North Macedonia. The Kingdom of Lyncestis (or “land of the lynx”) was an autonomous region in Upper Macedonia until it was conquered in 358 BCE by Philip II, father of Alexander the Great.

Artist Daniel Arsham is suing the rapper Quavo and his record label Quality Control Music, along with parent company HYBE America, of copyright infringement and a violation of right of publicity. Arsham alleges that Quavo used his sculpture Quartz Eroded 1961 Ferrari GT (2018) without permission in his “Back to the Basics 2025” promotional video and social media posts.

A public art installation by Douglas Coupland in Toronto was destoryed by a fire last week, in what local police are calling arson. Coupland’s piece was an homage to one of Canada’s most well-known painters, Tom Thomson, whose landscapes capture north Ontario and have nationalist overtones. He was not officially a member of the Group of Seven art movement, but he was close with its members.

The Japanese American National Museum (JANM) in Los Angeles is taking a stand against President Trump’s DEI policies as $2 million of the institution’s federal funding hangs in the balance. Over the last week, Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has made severe cuts to the funding and staffing of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
