Lithium (Li) ion batteries (LIBs) are the dominant energy storage technology in portable electronics and electric vehicles. (1,2) The excellent energy density and cycle life of LIBs has enabled their widespread use, while the search for more sustainable and energy-dense battery chemistries continues to drive the battery revolution as the market share of electric vehicles continues to grow.
