The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State has called out the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi over alleged abuse of office and high handedness. The party also revealed that the actions of Fagbemi in regards to the seizure of allocations to the state was dangerous erosion of the doctrine of separation of power. It called on President Bola Tinubu, to rein in Fagbemi and remind him that no one is above the law.

The Amotekun Corps in Osun State has debunked reports that its operatives arrested community chiefs in part of the state. The corps made this known in a statement reacting to allegations contained in a publication that it has commenced massive arrest and detention of traditional chiefs, believed to be members of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Itapa, Atakumosa East local government area of the state.

The World Institute of Peace, WIP, has called on security agencies in Osun State to avert potential unrest in Ile-Ife during the forthcoming religious festivals scheduled for June 6, 2025. Led by its Executive Director, Lamina Kamiludeen Omotoyosi, in an open letter addressed to the Osun State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Umar Abba, the organisation expressed serious concern over the coinciding dates of the Annual World Ifa Festival and the Eid El Kabir celebrations.

Dr Akin Ogunbiyi a gubernatorial aspirant in the Osun 2026 governorship election has hinted that screening method for multiple aspirants in the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the guber race will be determined by the party leadership. Ogunbiyi also said the possibility of any aspirant decamping from the party on account of loosing the gubernatorial ticket is unthinkable. He dropped this hint as he formally declared his intention to contest for the governorship election in Ile-Ogbo on Saturday.

Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State, has said that the ongoing move by opposition party leaders to join forces against President Bola Tinubu’s reelection in the 2027 general elections will fail.
