    Join The Associated Press on April 8 at 10:00 a.m. EDT for a total solar eclipse watch party live from Texas with livestreams from Mexico, Arkansas, Illinois, Ohio and New York. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon lines up perfectly between the Earth and the sun, blocking out the sunlight. The eclipse, which will last almost twice as long than the total solar eclipse in 2017, will start in Mexico and cross into Texas and 14 other U.S. states, before exiting over Canada.

    A Mexican cartel has threatened recording artist Peso Pluma ahead of his debut at the MTV Video Music Awards and his Oct. 14 concert at Caliente Stadium in Tijuana, Mexico. A banner threatening the 24-year-old Mexican singer, whose real name is Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, was posted on a bridge in the border town of Tijuana on Tuesday. It was signed by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, reported The Arizona Republic, part of the USA TODAY Network.

    Hurricane Lee continued to move northwest over the Atlantic Ocean with sustained winds near 115 miles per hour Wednesday morning as it heads toward the coasts of Maine and eastern Canada, according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center. Lee, which has remained a Category 3 major hurricane, is forecast to weaken into a tropical storm by Sunday before the storm’s center reaches the coast of Maine, New Brunswick or Nova Scotia, the hurricane center said.
