You know the Revolution’s schedule has been demanding when captain Carles Gil admits he’s feeling “the most tired in my life.” Gil was talking after a 3-0 victory at CF Montreal on Saturday night, the Revolution (6-4-5, 23 points) unbeaten streak extended to nine games. If a team ever deserved a two-week break, it’s his. In survival mode all season, they are doing well to be 10th in the Eastern Conference, and can thank the conference’s best defense (14 goals against, 0.93 average) for it.

Conditions were conducive for a game worth viewing when the Revolution visited D.C. United Wednesday night. But, thanks mostly to United’s frenetic style, the contest devolved into a nearly-unwatchable scramble as the teams played to a 1-1 tie. The Revolution (5-4-5, 20 points) should consider this a positive result, as they improved their unbeaten streak to eight games going into a visit to CF Montreal Saturday.

FOXBOROUGH — The process of Video Assistant Referee reviews often consumes significant time as officials pore over replays, attempting to achieve accuracy. So, in an exceptionally tight game, you might think the referee would have taken a moment to check out a potential deciding goal. Ignatius Ganago’s 69th-minute finish, negated by an offside call that was disputed by both Revolution coach Caleb Porter and Ganago, never got to referee Ricardo Montero for another look.
