When Donald Trump announced his intention to "take back" the Panama Canal from China, I had to chuckle. My old friend Linc, who had died in 2005, was having the last laugh after all. As editor of the Daily Inter Lake newspaper in Kalispell, Montana, for 18 years, I got to meet hundreds of people whom I would never have come across otherwise when they came to visit me at my office. One of the most memorable was an octogenarian named Linc France. Linc (short for Lincoln) was an American original.

Another two weeks, another column about Donald Trump. I would feel guilty for being repetitive, but really what else is there to write about these days? President Trump has not just set the agenda, he has turned the entire world into his oyster. The only question to be answered is, who is Trump beating this week? Ukraines President Zelensky? Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer? The Houthis? The Iranian Supreme Leader?

Monaco or Syria? Or worse yet, Lebanon? If you were a resident of Gaza, which would you select as the template for rebuilding your tiny strip of Mediterranean beachfront property? President Donald Trump has placed his bet on Palestinians choosing their own self-interest when opting for a rebuilt Gaza that will provide jobs, comfort, and peace for generations to come. Something akin to the French Riviera or the principality of Monaco.

Democrats can’t get rid of crazy Uncle Joe Biden now, so the rest of us can enjoy their distress as they pretend everything is “OK” (wink wink nod nod). My new column from RCP! https://t.co/aJcWD3pmT1

This week’s column at RealClearPolitics tells the story of Linc France, a retired auto mechanic who demanded in 2003 that someone do something to reclaim the Panama Canal from the Chinese. In 2025, Donald Trump finally did. https://t.co/rbDA1zawaG

President Trump wins again — this time by making Democrats support returning vicious gang members to the USA to put public safety at risk. Read my new column from RealClearPolitics. https://t.co/8aMpqQ2TG9
