Austria-based Rondo Ganahl AG has sold its corrugated packaging plant in Istanbul, Turkey, to a local packaging producer. The decision marks the company’s complete withdrawal from the Turkish market. The Istanbul site was originally acquired by Rondo in February 2013 under the name MKB Oluklu Mukavva Kutu ve Ambalaj and had contributed positively to the group’s performance over the years.

Metsä Board has discontinued production at its Tako paperboard mill in Finland with the shutdown of paper machine BM 1 on 17 June. Saudi packaging group Obeikan is shutting down its corrugated packaging plant in Canet d'en Berenguer near Valencia, Spain. The company has announced a collective redundancy procedure (ERE) and full closure of the site, affecting more than 100 employees, according to a statement by trade union CCOO del Hàbitat del País Valencià. According to Spanish press reports, the Valencia plant – which once employed up to 175 people – had seen its workforce reduced in recent years.
