More than 300 Kansas City Chiefs fans gathered together in the Crossroads area for the annual KC Chiefs Ambassadors gala last week. This year's event included a live and silent auction, hors d' oeuvres & beverages. The KC Ambassadors is a close knit group of former Chiefs players who continue to serve the community. Gala proceeds this year went to the Police Athletic League. Kendall Gammon, a longtime long snapper for the Chiefs, called it a great evening.

Three Lee's Summit area high school teams continued post-season play last week with mixed results in MSHSAA playoff competition. Lee's Summit West advanced to the Class 4 girls soccer MSHSAA State Championships with a 1-0 overtime victory over Liberty North on Saturday. The Titans improved to 16-5 and will face St. Dominic in the state semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday in Fenton, Mo.If West wins, the team will play for the state championship at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The list of free things to do at the annual Lee's Summit Downtown Days is impressive and includes a stop at the Sporting KC Sports Booth. This year, the Sports Booth will be located on Kids' Street (Southeast Douglas) where area soccer fans will have a real kick as they enjoy their favorite sport on display. Starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, event attendees can visit with members from the Kansas City World Cup '26 committee.

Mission accomplished. The Lee's Summit Tigers baseball team's goal of repeating as Class 6, District 7 champions was achieved on Saturday by scoring a single run. The top-seeded Tigers scored the only run of the game in the 4th inning, knocking off No. 3 seed Raymore-Peculiar 1-0 in the tournament's title game. The Tigers, now 28-11, benefited from senior Tate Alexander and junior Aiden Rosen's combined 7-inning shutout.
