SAN DIMAS — Colony pitcher Steven Gonzales has pitched in big games, and none was bigger than last year’s CIF Southern Section Division 6 championship. Gonzales threw a complete game with 11 strikeouts as the Titans defeated Village Christian 8-3 for the title. The stakes might not have been as high on Friday against San Dimas, but Gonzales delivered like it was, throwing a complete game shutout with eight strikeouts as the Titans edged San Dimas, 1-0.

The 57th Arcadia Invitational, widely regarded as the best high school track and field meet in California, and one that attracts athletes from all over the country, will take place over Friday and Saturday at Arcadia High School. Friday night's "Burnin Batons" session runs from 5 p.m., to 9 p.m., which includes several team relays, multiple boys and girls 3,200 meter races and the first day of the decathlon and heptathlon events.
