Technical considerations The determination of ∆F is contingent on the precise representation of synaptic input to the motor pool by lower threshold control units (Fig. 1). Modulation of lower threshold motor units that alter the ascending or descending phase of discharge, such as those induced by inhibitory input, has the potential to influence ∆F estimations and introduce uncertainty in hysteresis interpretations.
