On March 18, eighth graders from Springs School visited Liberty Island and Ellis Island. They departed from school on Hampton Jitney buses before the start of the official school day and returned well after dismissal. Students were able to see the Statue of Liberty and the National Museum of Immigration (Ellis Island). The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of liberty and freedom for many citizens and immigrants. Eighth graders were able to see the statue and learn the history behind it.

Springs School eighth graders are eagerly awaiting their field trip to Philadelphia at the end of this school year to celebrate their hard work in their last year of middle school. On the two-day trip students will see museums that show the rich history and pride of the United States of America. In the evening, they will change into formal attire for dinner aboard a riverboat. The next day, students get to go to the Six Flags amusement park before arriving home in East Hampton that night.

BackgroundWhile breastfeeding rates have increased in the United States in recent years, racial and ethnic disparities persist. Telelactation may help reduce disparities by increasing access to lactation consultants, but there is limited research on acceptability among minoritized individuals. ObjectiveWe aimed to explore experiences with telelactation among Black parents and identify strategies to make services more culturally appropriate.

Rashee “Shay” Ashley Chiverton couldn’t help but watch over those close to him, whether it be his own family or even any of the neighbors on his tight-knit block. Once, when a neighbor locked herself out, he climbed through her window to help her get back in. “Most neighbors are elderly, and he made sure that there were no people standing on the corners, no riff raff,” said his mother, Cynthia Sawyer-Chiverton.
