    Last week, TeamSmile, a Kansas-based nonprofit that provides free dental services for children across the country, set up shop at PNC Park. Roughly 250 students from schools across Pittsburgh received preventative and restorative dental care from local dentists who volunteered their time. More than 100 local volunteers also worked the event. Pittsburgh was the most recent stop for TeamSmile, which has 35 events scheduled this year.

    Repair Cafe Pittsburgh, a series of monthly workshops that teach attendees how to mend and repair broken household items, launched its first event at Construction Junction over the weekend. About 25 repairs and a dozen people stopped in over the course of the inaugural event. Subsequent events are planned at the Point Breeze location the first Saturday of each month. One attendee, Mikea Wall, brought a second hand desk chair to Repair Cafe after two of its wheels broke off.

    Christine Chiodo & Madison HaduckApril 12, 2024Madison Haduck met her future wife through her sorority sister — who happened to be the actual sister of Christine Chiodo. Madison was at the time a pharmacy student at Duquesne University and a member of Sigma Kappa when Victoria Chiodo invited Christine to their sorority’s charity walk. Christine later asked Victoria if Madison was single, but nothing more came of their first meeting. Their second meeting was by chance.
