I have retired from active general practice. I am disappointed to see where primary care services are at with respect to meeting the needs/expectations of New Zealanders. We, the providers of care, have allowed politicians and bureaucrats to take over the management of primary care services – not because we are not interested but because we have been busy with addressing the immediate needs of the patients in front of us.
