The Devils put on a clinic against the Philadelphia Flyers Wednesday night, finding the back of the net five times while the Flyers struggled to find it even once. The Devils added two points to their record after their 5-0 win. The first period was as slow as it could get and honestly was not looking to be in favor of the Devils. The Flyers ended the first frame with 10 shots on goal while the Devils only had seven, neither had the chance to bury one.

The Devils starting goaltender and their best player so far this season was injured last week and unfortunately will have to miss four to six weeks with an MCL sprain. Jake Allen will take the starting goaltender role for the time being while the Devils recalled Isaac Poulter and will recall Nico Daws at some point. Allen has a 2.70 goals against average (GAA) and a save percentage of .903% in the 2024-25 season thus far.

The days of the Devils struggles in net are long over as Jacob Markstrom has provided goaltending the Devils have not seen in years. The Swedish netminder has played 34 games and has 21 wins, including three shutouts. His save percentage is .913% with a goals-against-average of 2.20. He ranks fifth in GAA, 11th in save percentage and is tied for fourth in number of shutouts. Markstrom has made highlight reel worthy saves night after night for the Devils.

The Florida Panthers are in town to take on the New Jersey Devils at 7:30 p.m. ET Tuesday night. After a troublesome road trip for the Devils, they finally got back into the win column with an exciting 3-2 overtime win against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Jack Hughes continues to shine for the Devils as he is currently on a four-game scoring streak, constantly pushing the level of play for the Devils.

The New Jersey Devils collected two points Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning in overtime. Ondrej Palat, who has found his offensive side lately, opened up the scoring against his former team in the first period. The lead did not last long as Tampa’s captain, Victor Hedman, tied the game just a minute later. Jack Hughes continued his hot offensive play as he scored his 17th of the season to put the Devils up 2-1 in the second period.

The Devils are entering San Jose with hopes of snapping a three-game losing streak Saturday, Jan. 4, at 4 p.m. ET. After having a tremendous month of December, the Devils are starting off 2025 on a bit of a slow note. The Devils lost the last two games of December against the Carolina Hurricanes and then the Anaheim Ducks, followed by a 3-0 shutout against the LA Kings on New Year’s Day. The Sharks beat the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday evening after losing eight straight.

The New Jersey Devils opened up the home-and-home series against the Carolina Hurricanes with a 4-2 win on home ice Friday night. Despite the Devils playing some of the best hockey we’ve seen in franchise history before the holiday break, the Canes found the back of the net first about halfway through the first. Carolina dominated the Devils through the first 10 minutes, as shots were 9-2 in favor of the Hurricanes.

Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt, also known as PB&J, have been on a tear to start this season, leading the Devils in points and being a crucial part in their success. Bratt and Hughes lead the Devils in points, assists, and are both top five in goals. Bratt, the sixth-round pick in the 2016 draft, currently leads the Devils with 41 points in 33 games. He leads the team with 28 assists and is second in goals with 13, just after captain Nico Hischier.

The Devils look to add another win to their season as they take on the St. Louis Blues on the road Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET. After going 3-1-1 in their recent homestand, the Devils look to build off their success as they enter a two-game road trip. The Devils’ defense was top tier during their homestand, a huge part of their success. They held teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs and LA Kings to less than 18 shots the entire game.
