The Council of Lawrence Township made history on Jan. 1 when it elected their first Black and Latina mayor, Paticia Hendricks Farmer. “I’m excited about making history,” said Mayor Farmer, 55. “I know there are not many Latina mayors in our state.”Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Lawrenceville, Farmer served on the school board for the last three years before her election to the council in November.
