Bank of Ireland has begun work on its iconic College Green building as part of a €36 million makeover. The project, which is expected to take three years, will involve the repair, upgrading and restoration of College Green’s 280 windows, 45 staircases and 200kms of electrical cabling, as well as its 54 roofs and 2.5 kms of roof walkways. There will also be improved facilities for Bank of Ireland customers and workspaces for colleagues.

He made his comments as representatives prepared for weekend talks to contain a trade war between the world's two largest economies. Aer Lingus loses €55m in Q1 but strong demand for US travel

Aer Lingus has reported a €55m loss for the first quarter of 2025, which is down on the €82m loss it reported the same time last year. The drop was attributed to a combination of increased capacity and lower fuel costs. The airline's chief executive Lynne Embleton also revealed the company had not seen a dip in passengers travelling from Ireland to the US.
Irish Lions players can look forward to a record pay day

The record 15 Irish players called up for the Lions tour are reportedly set for a payday bonanza from the tour to Australia. Andy Farrell announced the 38-man squad on Thursday which was stacked with men more accustomed to lining out in green- the most from any one nation. Nine Ireland forwards and six backs were called up, 12 from Leinster, two from Connacht and one from Munster.

When he hangs up his mic on Friday, June 27, it will bring to an end a career spanning nearly 40 years at the national broadcaster. Survey reveals what employees want in order to return to the office

More workers would return to the office if they had subsidised food and access to a gym, a new survey has found. According to a Savills Workplace Trends survey, the biggest draw to return to the office was a subsidised meal which was cited by 39% of those asked. Fast internet (34%) to mentoring opportunities (28%) and gym access (28%) were amongst the other reasons workers said they would return to their desks.
Enterprise Ireland invested over €27 million in Irish start-ups in 2024

Enterprise Ireland (EI), which is the government agency responsible for the development and growth of Irish companies in global markets, said the funds were provided through its High Potential Start-Up (HPSU) and Pre-Seed Start Fund (PSSF) programmes. The funding was revealed at Enterprise Ireland’s annual Start-Up Day Conference in Dublin, which was attended by over 600 delegates, including investors, state agencies and start-up accelerators.
Quilter Cheviot Europe confirms takeover of GillenMarkets

Quilter Cheviot Europe Limited (QCE) has confirmed it has acquired Dublin-based investment advisory firm GillenMarkets. QCE is the Irish subsidiary of wealth manager Quilter Cheviot,which manages close to €140bn, while GillenMarkets was founded 15 years ago by Rory Gillen. Gillen currently advises over €0.6bn of assets for roughly 500 families. As part of the acquisition, the firm’s founder, five investment advisers and their support team will join QCE’s Dublin-based team.
