Meanwhile, more than 300 engineering projects are being carried out by Network Rail across Britain between Good Friday and Easter Monday, prompting warnings for passengers to check their journeys in advance.

More than half of councils with their own electric car chargers do not know if they are working, a survey has revealed. Just 15 per cent of councils, meanwhile, were able to say that all of their electric vehicle (EV) chargers were fully operational. Experts warned that drivers could be left “stranded” if relying on council equipment to top up their EVs en route to their Easter getaways.
