    It has been confirmed by the Cork City manager that their striker Ruairi Keating is unlikely to play again this season after he underwent surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon injury yesterday. Keating picked up the injury at the Brandywell and Cork boss, Tim Clancy, expressed concern about the ground’s artificial surface, while confirming that the striker will not return to action for ‘six to nine months’.

    Cork take on Tipperary this afternoon in the final of the Allianz Division 1A Hurling League. Pairc Ui Chaoimh hosts today's final, with throw in scheduled for 4pm. A huge crowd is expected at the home of Cork hurling as the Rebels bid to end a 27-year drought and win the title for the first time since 1998.

    Stephen Rochford insists he is under as much pressure as a No2 as he was when he was Mayo’s manager from 2016 to 2018. Rochford did a fine job as Mayo boss, getting them to an All-Ireland final in each of his first two seasons as an inter-county manager, emulating four of the game’s greats: Kevin Heffernan, Mick O’Dwyer, Jack O’Connor and Joe Kernan. The difference between those managerial icons and Rochford is they landed the big prize whereas Rochford’s Mayo came agonisingly short.
