    The end of the year is here, and it gives me time to reflect on the accomplishments of our tribe. The hard work and dedication of our tribal council, executive staff and associates have, once again, worked with our tribal members and communities for another successful year for the Choctaw Nation. As with every year, I really enjoy getting out into the reservation and meeting with tribal members at the Elder Dinners to celebrate the holiday season.

Unfortunately, that was life for our Choctaw ancestors after the trail of tears when attending American schools on the reservation. For years our ancestors had to hide the very thing that made them who they were.

    The Choctaw Nation participates in the quarterly gathering of the five civilized tribes in Oklahoma for fellowship, cooperation and updates on the good works our tribes are fulfilling for all our tribal members. Our most recent Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes meeting was held from July 10-12 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at a Cherokee Nation owned and operated facility (Hard Rock Hotel & Casino).
