There is a thin slice that cuts between where Albany County’s Helderbergs end and the northern Catskills in Greene County begin. The valley’s narrowness affords travelers a view of either mountain to the south and escarpment to the north. Population centers are few, and what lies between them are swaths of reachable nature areas, and a wealth of trails, from easy to difficult, to suit all stripes. There’s never a bad time to do the driving loop described below so why not now?
