IN THE aftermath of the recent killings of three young girls in Southport, I developed a growing sense that much of what I was witnessing did not correspond to instinctive, bottom-up expressions of grief and anger. The rapid emergence of orderly vigils, together with the subsequent multiple and homogeneous counter-demonstrations to the rioting of the ‘far right’, raised my suspicions that something more contrived was taking place.

A plethora of on-message communicators, embedded in governments and global organisations, are engaged in disseminating messages to the masses urging us all to change our behaviours so as to save the world from purported existential threats. Near the top of the pyramid of these influencers are behavioural scientists, with the U.K. hosting many such ‘nudgers’ skilled in the art of persuading the populace to comply with diktats to ‘save’ the planet from a looming viral or climate apocalypse.

On July 9th, the Daily Sceptic published my article describing how three healthcare providers had reinstated a requirement for staff, patients and visitors to wear masks in all clinical areas. I also urged the readers who recognised the perniciousness of this restriction (a.k.a. the rational among us) to show their displeasure by lodging a formal complaint to the offending organisations. Today I can announce some good news: two of the errant establishments have now reversed their mask impositions.

The pro-mask cultists are at it again. In the height of summer, no less, three healthcare providers are trying to re-impose their own mask “requirements” (to the obvious glee of the BBC). The offending sites are Worcestershire Acute Hospitals, University Hospitals of North Midlands and Manx Care (which runs health and social care services in the Isle of Man).
