A strong storm system moves in after sunset tonight, reaching the western RI border around 9pm and gradually moving east across the area through 3am. There could be a few gusty south winds as well, anywhere from 30-50 mph. That persistent south flow will also create the possibility for some minor tidal flooding at the shore during high tide. Showers shut off early Thursday morning, but developing fog could slow down your commute.

After a cold start to the week, warmer air is moving in. Highs returned to the 40s today, and we have 50s on the way the next two days. Skies will be mostly cloudy on Wednesday, but it is safe to leave the umbrella at home as rain does not arrive until tomorrow night. Right now timing brings a strong front through between 8pm and 2am, with the heaviest rain between 10p and 1am. Some rumbles of thunder and high wind gusts are possible as well.

Happy March everyone! We’ve definitely begun very lion-esque with frigid temperatures the past few days, but spring-like temperatures will return soon. First, a quick recap of meteorological winter. In a sentence, cold but not a lot of snow. Mostly sunny skies continue tomorrow with temperatures getting back into the 40s. Wednesday and Thursday will be in the 50s, but rain arrives Wednesday night and could be heavy at times before exiting Thursday morning.

An fairly rare occurrence is set to appear in the sky this week!Friday night will be the peak time to observe a unique observance of all of the seven other planets in our solar system in the sky at the same time. The best time to look will be right around sunset, close to 6 p.m. Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and Saturn are potentially visible to the naked eye, but Uranus and Neptune will require the use of a telescope or strong binoculars.
