Watford owner Gino Pozzo, chief executive Scott Duxbury and sporting director Gina Luca Nani have bridges to build. There has been seething reaction and resentment to Tom Cleverley's sacking and it's alarmed them. In a poll in the local newspaper, 94% were against the latest head coach removal. The vitriol has been its loudest since Pozzo took over and it seems to have shocked him and the board. Changes have been made and operation reconciliation has begun.

Cleverley was the first head coach to remain in charge for an entire season since Javi Gracia in 2018-19. He was unbeaten at home in his first 15 league games as boss, but results took a downturn following a 2-1 defeat by Cardiff on 29 December and they only took five points from the next nine matches. Reports in Spain earlier this season claimed former Villarreal head coach Jose Rojo Martin, known as Pacheta, had been in talks with Watford to replace him.

So it's one final push for Luton Town. A win at West Brom guarantees Championship football next season, a draw could be good enough and even defeat might not mean relegation if Hull slip up at Portsmouth. Three wins out of three has helped put the Hatters in this situation as has the longer spell of decent form - one defeat in nine. But it still always comes down to fine margins.

Two wins out of two over Easter has given Luton's chances of staying up a massive boost. They know that if they beat Coventry on Saturday in the early kick-off they will be outside the relegation zone come the final day of the season with their nearest rivals Hull and Derby playing each other later that day. What an incentive. What a turnaround. The Hatters went into the Good Friday match at Derby knowing that anything less than a win would almost certainly mean relegation.
